community Garage Sale

Saturday, May 16th 8:30am - 2:00pm

Are you ready to declutter and make some extra cash? The Fox Ridge HOA invites you to participate in our Community Garage Sale on Saturday, May 9th, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. This is the perfect opportunity to clean out your garage, sell those clothes you no longer wear, or finally part ways with that exercise equipment you never used. The Fox Ridge HOA will promote the event locally and provide promotional copy and art to help you advertise on social media, maximizing reach and potential earnings for everyone.

LET US KNOW YOU PLAN TO PARTICIPATE

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL & LINKS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA WILL BE AVAILABLE MAY 1ST

Preparing For A garage Sale

To prepare for a garage sale, first declutter and clean everything, then price items realistically (around 10% of retail), organize them by category (like clothes, toys, kitchen) on tables, create clear signage, advertise online with photos, have change and supplies ready, and set up for an early start to attract buyers.

1-2 Weeks Before

  • Declutter & Clean: Go through your house, clean all items (wash clothes, wipe down furniture), and make piles for selling, keeping, or trashing.
  • Advertise: Post on local Facebook groups, Craigslist, and neighborhood apps, including photos of key items (kids' stuff is a big draw).

THE ASSOCIATION WILL SECURE ANY REQUIRED PERMITS.

THE ASSOCIATION WILL PUT SIGNS ON CENTERVILLE ROAD  AT EACH ENTRANCE ON MAY 14th.

A Few Days Before

  • Gather Supplies: Get tables, clothing racks, hangers, bags, boxes, calculator, tape, and lots of small bills/change for your bank.
  • Price Items: Aim for 10% of retail; price items at $5 or less for faster sales. Bundle items or offer "fill a bag" deals.
  • Organize & Set Up: Group like items (kitchen, toys, books) and hang clothes. Keep electronics near an outlet for testing.
  • Make Signs: Create large, clear signs with arrows and your address, and plan to put them out the night before or very early on May 16th.

The Night Before / Morning Of

  • Final Prep: Get a good night's sleep and set your alarm for early!.
  • Display: Put out major items near the street to draw people in.
  • Have Help: Recruit a friend or family member to help manage the sale and watch for theft.
  • Be Ready: Have your change ready, keep items neat, and be prepared for early birds.

During the Sale

  • Be Flexible: Be open to offers, especially later in the day.
  • Sell Drinks: Consider selling cold water or snacks if it's hot.
  • Security: Keep an eye out for shoplifters, as it's a common issue
